First rainy site visit to Stari Bar….

The Old Town of Bar is the largest and the most important medieval archaeological site in the Balkans. Its position between the coast and the mountains has seen it unite all Mediterranean cultures: Illyrian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Slavic, Venetian and Ottoman. Deserted since the end of the 19th century, it fell into further ruin after the 1979 earthquake .

We will be installing the work in the restored amphitheatre- the site is quite challenging and we will have to think carefully about how we hang and fix work against the beautiful mellow stone walls; and how we make use of this impressive and ancient performance space.
